These are body measurements, not garment measurements. They are a general guide: the exact fit varies by style, and pieces described as oversized, loose or relaxed are cut wider than the measurements above.

How to measure

Use a soft tape measure, keep it level and snug but not tight, and measure over underwear rather than clothing.

  • Bust – around the fullest part of your chest, with the tape flat across your back.
  • Waist – around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.
  • Hips – around the fullest part of your hips and seat, roughly 20 cm below your waist.
  • Inside leg – from the top of your inner thigh down to the ankle bone, for trousers and jeans.

Choosing between two sizes

If your measurements fall between two sizes, size up for a looser fit and size down for a closer one. For knitwear described as oversized or loose-fit, most people are comfortable in their usual size. For high-waist trousers and jeans, go by your waist measurement first.
